I am trying to make the results of my investigations into things herbal (meaning "of herbs," which are simply plants) -- and things of the Angevin Empire and other topics I may have looked into -- available here. I'd be happy to answer questions, as well.
These projects were done in the context of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), recreating the Middle Ages in Europe. My Laurel in the SCA is for herbalism. To that I bring modern experience as a professor of biology.
Beyond plants, I have an ongoing interest in the history of technology: how were things done before?
before they had cheap cotton;
before aluminum could be easily worked;
before tomatoes and potatoes made it to Europe;
before Europeans had chocoate and vanilla...
And, finally, I am fascinated to try to see the assumptions through which we view our lives. How much or how little have those changed in a thousand years? Consider: [plant example]and [shortages]
Presented here are my views, and though I hope to support them, they are, as any one person's views, subjectively filtered through training and experience. You can reach me for questions and comments at kkeeler1@unl.edu
