Moot Minutes
21 June 2005
Seneschal:
- Thanks to all who helped out with Lilies here and at site! It was a wonderful event.
Pursuivant:
- Congratulations to all the people who received awards and elevation announcements at Lilies.
- If you did something relating to heraldry (cried camp, consulted, provided field heralding, etc.), please let Morag know so she can put it in her report.
Marshall:
- There will be NO FIGHTER PRACTICE for July 3 unless another marshal wants to handle it. JM will not be conducting fighter practice that Sunday.
- Starting July 5, we will be visiting Lonely Tower's fighter practice on Tuesdays in addition to the normal fighter practices here. July 12 is a Lincoln based demo so we will not visit Lonely Tower that night, but the rest of July will have Tuesday practices in Lonely Tower.
- JM will not be marshal in charge for Conquistador's Folly due to the conflict with Diamond Wars. Angelo has volunteered to handle the marshallate needs for Conquistador's.
- REVEL - to be held in conjunction with Sunday fighter practice this week at Woods Park (33rd & O, just north of the Tennis Domes). Sponsored by JM and the Crodh Catha. Fighter practice will be from 3 to 6 p.m. At 6:30, brats and hotdogs will be served along with "cheap soda". Feel free to bring a side dish to share and non-alcoholic beverages if you don't want soda. This Revel is for fun and will be in garb. Tents and shades will be set up prior to fighter practice. There will be an A&S Exchange to finish projects for folks that haven't had the time or talent to finish the project they started. Deadline for finishing projects on the Exchange is the July Revel. MoC activities will begin about mid-way through supper to keep the kids entertained. Singing around the fire (aka: BBQ grill) will occur (Army Songs!) with lyrics being provided by JM. Rumor has it that puppets and s'mores may be there during the evening as well. We plan to be done sometime between 8 and 9 p.m. If it is actively raining at 5 p.m., the revel will be moved to JM's house at 1983 Park Ave.
Chronicler:
- Deadline for the July Runestaffs is 6:00 p.m. June 30. Stories about Lilies would be greatly appreciated!
Baronage:
- A quick Financial Committee meeting will be held immediately following Moot this evening.
- Thank you for all the hard work, preparations, and on site help during Lilies!
- Storage unit stuff that belongs to the barony can be dropped off to either Sashatec's or Calien's house starting Monday.
- Their Highnesses have been asked to allow a temporary change in the Crown/Coronation Rotation schedule so Mag Mor would be putting in a bid for Crown (May 2006) and Lonely Tower would be putting in a bid for Coronation (Sept 2006). This would alleviate the conflict with Mag Mor's Cattle Raids and Lonely Tower's Spring Fling. We should have a response from the Reeve soon, but Their Highnesses are very positive about the proposal.
- 2006 could be a very busy year for Mag Mor (Crown?, JAV, Nebraska Ren Faire, Kingdom A&S with Lonely Tower co-sponsoring?, Cattle Raids, Conquistador's). This is the "worst case scenerio". Just wanted to make folks aware that we could be very busy.
- A reminder that July is coming up so quarterly reports will be due soon.
Music:
- Next rehearsal will be June 30 at Volkmar and Isadora's at 7:30 p.m. July dates for rehearsal are the 14th and 28th.
Scribes:
- Will be meeting this Friday (June 24th) and every friday thereafter at 7:00 p.m. at Isabeau and Carlos' house.
- There will be no meeting on July 1 only due to family obligations.
MoAS:
- Next week is an A&S Tuesday. We'll be brainstorming for A&S night ideas and scheduling for as far in advance as possible.
- Will also be brainstorming for A&S demo ideas to include in our next interactive demos.
- Will also be talking about the design, materials, and how-to of dying silk.
- Kingdom A&S Championship and Tri-levels is coming up. The entry form is on line. Entry forms are due by July 7. Research papers must be submitted no later than June 24. Kateryn de Devlin will be elevated to the Order of the Laurel at this event.
- Known World Costuming and Rattan Symposium will be held in Dun Ard on October 8. Heavy weapons will be part of this event. Sashatec is looking for help at Troll and instructor sign-in.
Treasurer:
- We have collected $240 toward the $380 tent rental for Lilies. Please continue contributing. A fund-raiser may be required if we can't get the amount through simple donations.
- The archers nets have been delivered.
Demos:
- Walt Library Demo: July 12, 6:30 to 8 pm with fighting on the front lawn
- Bennet Martin Library Demo: July 16, 2:30 – 4 pm
- Milford Ren Faire: This is a non-SCA sanctioned demo. Individuals are welcome to attend and provide interactive demos for the kids (this is a Faire specifically for children). 6:00-8:00 p.m. on July 18. Sashatec has directions to the site if anyone wants to attend.
- Gere Library Demo: July 21, 6:30 – 8 pm
- Witherby Community Neighborhood Association is sponsoring a demo in Woods Park on August 6. They have asked us to participate. Details will come later.
Winter War Maneuvers 2006:
- Campus Rec wants to set up the tourney schedule for the athletic groups first. This will not be done until September. Once the schedule is locked in, we can find out if we will get our date for Winter War Maneuvers. Their Highnesses have been informed. Agnes has submitted a request to have the Pavilion and the Pit from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and to have off site food brought in. If we get turned down, the person dealing with Campus Rec is instructed to question the reason for the denial as it may be simply that we've asked for too many hours and we can change that.
