Moot Minutes
3 May 2005
Seneschal:
- Encouraged attendance at fighter practices by non-fighters. Encourage use of pennons and garb at fighter practice, but not required.
- Crown Tourney this weekend: new baronage will be announced
- If you have an idea for a baronial activity or something, please contact the officer that pertains to that idea/thing. By using the proper channels of communication, everyone stays in the loop and important details won't be missed.
- Sashatec will be setting a firm Moot agenda for future Moots. If you have something to go on the agenda, contact him prior to that Moot and he will work it into the agenda as appropriate. This will make Moots more efficient and coherent.
- During baronial interviews, Sashatec was very proud to find out how well respected Mag Mor is in the Kingdom. Be proud of being Mag Mor!
Treasurer:
- Herd Master: 50 people signed in and we collected $148 in donations.
- Lilies Tent: We have collected about half the cost of the Lilies tent. Please donate often and frequently! (Editor's note: suggested donation is $10 per person with a $20 cap for families).
Pursuivant:
- Congrats to the recent award recipients from Herd Master and Spring Fling!
- There is a new submissions herald for the Kingdom. A new website has been set up to aid with submissions. Morag will send the url to the Mag Mor listserve and Toli will be adding this to the Heraldry page as a link on the baronial website.
Marshall:
- Last week was the last of the indoor practices for the season. Tomorrow's Wednesday practice will be held at the new outdoor site at Woods Park (33rd and O...south of the intersection on 33rd, near the Tennis Domes).
- Sunday practices will continue at the Woods Park location as well.
Chronicler:
- May Runestaffs are now available.
- Deadline for the June Runestaffs is 6:00 p.m. May 27. Vasilla was duly reminded. :-)
Minister of Arts & Sciences:
- Last week's A&S night was spinning. This may be taught again in the future.
- Next week's A&S night will be Viking woven chain. Materials and tools will be provided.
- Falcon tabards will be worked on as an assembly line at Sashatec's house on May 31. CORRECTION! Date should be May 24!!!! (Editor's note: Come help get these made for the new baronage to give as largesse as they step up at Lilies!)
Demo Coordinator:
- We have 3 library demos in July. Leaving the rest of the July schedule open in case we hear from Bright Lights.
- James Arthur Vineyards Ren Faire: need to have folks commit to being there and doing specific activities. Sign up sheets were passed around. There are 15 paid vendors (8 new ones!). Poster art is ready to go and Katalina will send it out in a pdf file to the list so folks can print it off and post it in various venues. She will also have colored paper copies available to hand out next week. A&S demos need to be active demos that are interesting from an audiences' point of view.
- Tent needs will be evaluated by Katalina and she will be contacting folks for use of tents during JAV.
Baronage:
- Thank you to all the baronial candidates for stepping up to the plate. We appreciate having 3 very good sets of candidates for TRMs to choose from.
- Thank you to Angelo for the use of his office building for Moot this evening.
- Thank you to Angelo and Jane for all their work on the recruitment push. They've done a fabulous job thus far and continue to do great work in this area.
- Clarification on donations for demos: several groups have been focused on in the kingdom in regards to donations for demos. We want to stress that at no time do we ask for donations up front for a demo. If we are asked about donations, we do have a suggested donation amount, but we never talk about donations unless the group we are demo'ing for asks about it and wants to give us one. Fortunately, we have groups that want to give us donations and have budgets that are designed for this. Katalina has a guide sheet that she uses when talking to groups about demos. She will post this to the Mag Mor listserve.
- Lilies: The Crodh Catha will be taking the field as a unit on several occasions. Murdoch will be helping make sure that those that wish to wear a Crodh Catha tabard/baldric/etc. has one available for them. Contact him or Mikhail if you need one.
- Lilies: The Mag Mor Party has been moved from Wednesday to Thursday night in deference to our baronial cousins in Iowa. It appears that the Coeur d'Ennui party is not just Cd'E, but rather ALL of Iowa.
- Lilies: The Baronesses of Calontir will be hosting the Pas d'Arms on Friday morning. Big prize baskets. Much boasting and challenges. There will be a Procession of Helms and Mag Mor will be marching to the field amidst banners, standards and song. The Pas begins at 10.
- Lilies: Pillow Fight. Winnifred and Vasilla are facing off again prior to the Pas. Prepare your pillow weapons. Heraldic display is highly encouraged. Pillow fighting to commense at 9 a.m., but be there about 15 minutes early for warm-up exercises. Gentlemen are invited to watch from the Gallery; and provide prizes if they deem it prudent.
Miscellaneous:
- Recruitment Meeting Summary by Jane: decided that phone numbers on the MagMor.net site are unnecessary. There is email coverage even during Lilies. There will be 2 emails of response per inquiry: the initial welcome and the officer appropriate for the inquiry type. Determined that what new people really want is for us to get to know them.
- Suggestion: an informal gathering once a month to just socialize without structure. Jane will organize the first one for the end of May.
- JM will be organizing a Crodh Catha sponsored potluck/wieny roast at Woods Park during Fighter Practice on June 26th.
- Leofwyna still needs folks to volunteer to help with Lilies Party foods.
