Each Russian household had a "beautiful corner". This was an area dedicated to the saints of the household. Visitors were considered rude if they did not address a prayer to the beautiful corner before conversing with the tenants. Mikhail and I have a beautiful corner that features an icon of the Archangel Michael and incense to burn. Icons of St. Olga and of St. Nicholas will also be added to this corner for myself and Nisse as soon as I manage to find that copious free time...
