| This urn is the result of a "collage pot" project, taking the neck, shoulder, body, and foot of the pot from four different pots and combining them to make a unique pot. I threw this pot on the wheel in four separate pieces and assembled them at the leatherhard stage. | |
| One of my interests, besides the classical form, is the idea of a functional but not practical item. This double decker teapot is functional (both spouts work), but not practical (there is no separation between the teapots). This piece is of Michael Simmon's clay body, glazed with a wonderful matt orange glaze that captures the flashes from the gas firing in a delightful sooty look The interior is glazed with a glossy metallic black that looks much like hematite. | |
| This coffee pot was inspired by the genie bottle shape. It is glazed using the same glazes as the double decker teapot. I really enjoy the teapot/coffee pot as an object. There are so many elements to combine that must flow to make a successful pot. I love the challenge of it. |
